Mike Whitby Triples brings curtain down on season
Colin Hammond continued his dominance of Club competitions this summer with another victory in the final event of the season, the Mike Whitby Triples, on September 29.
Only three teams took part in the competition, with a misunderstanding and ill health preventing a fourth from being formed.
This meant rather a lot of sitting out for those who did take part, but fortunately the fine weather made this quite pleasant.
Colin, as skip, shepherded his team – with Jonathan Horner as lead and Gerrard Raven as number two – to a net score of plus 12 shots. His victory adds to his tally of wins in 2018 which also include the Championship, the Knapman, the Open Pairs and the Grove Dowsett.
A tea which included some delicious hot dogs, for which thanks to Maureen and Vernon Elmes, concluded the event. Now, for many of our members , the challenge of a winter playing on a carpet indoors awaits. Gerrard
