Result of Jubilee Triples Trophy - Tuesday 27th May 2025
A really enjoyable competition in extremely difficult conditions. It looked doubtful as to whether the competition would proceed earlier in the day. The morning was characterised by heavy rain. It eased up by 2pm but there was still a persistent drizzle so well done to all of those who competed. The bowling green was wet so it was playing short but all players excelled when faced with a long or short jack. I oversaw the event and did not play but really enjpyed having the opportunity to watch TBC members in action.
Bob’s team , Team C, comprising Andrew and Eileen, came first with +7 points. They had two very close matches to the start against teams D and A but then stormed away in the final match against team B.
Woody’s team, Team D, comprising Chris and Gary finished a close second with + 4. There was only 3 points in it. All their matches were close but the pattern was one of gradual improvement which paid dividends in the end.
Team A ,Colin’s team, comprising Maureen and Bernard, came 3rd. All matches were close with no more than a 3 point difference in each match. However unlike Team D they were unlucky and there fortune diminished over each round.
Team B, Vernon’s team made up of David and Stuart finished 4th. They unfortunately lost all three matches although they competed very well in the first two and then lost momentum
A good two hours of bowls! When everyone had finished and all the equipment put away it was rather lovely to venture into a warm and friendly environment.
As always thanks to Maureen and Vernon for providing refreshments.
