JACK GAYDON TROPHY COMPETITION 2022
Posted 05-08-2022

Jack Gaydon Trophy – Tuesday 2nd August 2022

Once again, we were very lucky with the weather – dry with sunny intervals and a temperature of about 26 Centigrade. The only downsides were that it was very humid and after a very long period with virtually no rain there were some brown bare patches on the green.

We had an excellent turnout of 16 players, and once again thanks are owed to Brian Caswell for making us up to an even number so that 8 pairs could take part in this seeded four wood competition. Each pair played a 2-end game against each of the other 7 pairs making a total of 14 ends.

In 3rd place were Brian C and Victor (+5), runners up were Chris C and Gerrard (+8) and winners with +10 were Roger B and Jonathan. A special well done to our new member Chris W who was paired with Vernon. They had a notable 3-1 win in their game against the trophy winners and also gained 6 shots on one end in one of their other games. Also of note was that Chris C and Gerrard were 8-0 up after their first game.

We finished with a splendid ploughman’s supplied by Maureen and a raffle, the first and second prizes in which were won by Roger J and Chris W, respectively
