SONGEST CUP COMPETITION 2022
Posted 17-06-2022

Songest Cup – Tuesday 14th June 2022
It was a glorious sunny day, perfect for bowling, and 16 players turned out to play in a match that was very close overall.
Each pair played 2 ends against each of the other pairs with 4 rinks being utilised. Only 3 teams finished on an overall positive score:
In 3rd place were Ted and Vernon with a score of +7.
Runners up were Alfie and Victor with +9.
Winners by a very narrow margin were Roger J and Jonathan with +11.

Unbeknown to the players at the time, the very last game to finish was between the runners up and winners. Coming into the last end, Alfie and Victor were at +11 whilst Roger J and Jonathan were +9. Two shots on the last end to Roger J and Jonathan in effect reversed the scores and resulted in their victory.

Special thanks to Brian C for making up an even number of players and to Maureen for organising the tea and raffle. After the latter, the draws were made for the club’s 5 internal knockout competitions (Allen, Knapman, Pairs, Handicap and Championship). The draws can be viewed on the noticeboard in the men’s changing room and all players involved have been emailed with the draws.
