MIKE WHITBY TRIPLES COMPETITION 2022

Mike Whitby Triples – Tuesday 20th September 2022
Our final one-day cup competition of the year, the Mike Whitby Triples, took place on Tuesday 20 September. We were lucky to have very pleasant dry weather and some of our hardier players (not me!) wore shorts. We had an excellent turn out of 18 players and six teams were drawn at random before the start. Each team played a 3-end match against each of the other 5 teams.
The clear winners were Maureen, Bernard and Bob who finished with a score of +14. After a 1-2 defeat in their first match against Eileen, David Ford and Jonathan, who eventually finished in 3rd place with a score of +4, they went on to win all their remaining 4 matches. This included a decisive final match 4-1 win against Alfie, Chris Caswell and Vernon who finished as runners up with a score of +8 (from this you could work out that the 2 teams started this match neck and neck on +11).
A big thank you to all players, and to Maureen for providing a post-match tea and raffle. It was good to welcome Chris Firman to his first one day cup match for the club and we hope very much that he will join us for the 2023/2024 season. Many congratulations to Maureen, Bernard and Bob!
